In the photo, the deck boards are just laying there - nothing is fastened yet. It has 2x4 posts in concrete in 6 places. I used 16' 2x12s lying on a rock base for drainage. We decided to build a small deck at the bottom of a hill off the driveway, with a set of steps leading down to it. So I ended up with a lot of good but faded decking. The decking was Azek Brownstone and we had to replace all of it even though only about 25% of it was damaged, since the old stuff was sun faded and new wouldn't match. If not for them, the fire would have gotten into the wall and the roof and it likely would have taken the house. They woke me up just before the fire truck arrived. A neighbor saw it and used our hose to fight the fire, and then another neighbor joined in. (Now we have solar lights!) The fire started at 11:30pm and my wife and I were asleep. The front of our house has a 40' long porch which caught fire last year - one of the 2 landscape lighting transformers hanging on the end of the porch fried.
